Maturation of lipoproteins in Escherichia coli

Jessica will investigate how lipoproteins are escorted across the periplasm and targeted to the outer membrane where some of them interact with the Bam machinery.

Host:
Université Catholique de Louvain, de Duve Institute, Belgium

Supervisory Team:
Prof. Jean-François Collet (UCL)
Dr. Seung Hyun Cho (UCL)
Prof. Ian Henderson (UNIBIR)

Scientific Background:
Jessica obtained her master’s degree in Structure-Interaction of Macromolecules –Functional Genomics (SIMGF) from Saint Joseph University (USJ) in Lebanon in 2013. Her master 2 fellowship was done in Aix-Marseille University under the supervision of Pr. Sonia Longhi in Marseille. In 2014, she started her career as a medical lab engineer in the National Institute of Pathology in Lebanon.
In 2016, she joined Collet’s team to start a PhD. Her research focuses on the lipoprotein maturation in Escherichia.coli.
